Great thoughts from our interns as to why they wanted to work at LEAV & STEINBERG this summer:
Jared Kopito: “Ever since I was a kid, I’ve wanted to be a lawyer. My father, an estate & litigation lawyer, always implored me to think critically, ask questions, and stick to my guns. As I grew, so did my passion for debate. In high school, I was the captain of the debate team. In college, I found myself the contrarian, sometimes even for fun. I knew upon graduation that I had to go to law school to unleash my full potential. I knew I had to do trial law too, as I’ve found my greatest strengths to be my oratory skills and my ability to successfully argue my point.
At Leav & Steinberg, I feel completely in place with a team of hard-working, accomplished co-workers who share the same enthusiasm for personal injury work as I do. Despite being in only the infant stages of my career, I am enamored with the intricacies of what makes this such a successful firm. Furthermore, I believe in the mission at Leav & Steinberg, supporting plaintiffs wronged by unwarranted injury. I look forward to the rest of the summer learning under the tutelage of Leav & Steinberg’s attorneys.”
Lindsay Kantor: Growing up my family would always tell me “you will make a great lawyer one day”. However, it was not until the age of 22 that I turned that saying into a reality. This coming fall I will be attending New York Law School and I am so excited to start this next chapter of my life.
Working at Leav and Steinberg has been an amazing experience. Within my first two weeks, I had opportunities to work alongside hardworking and likeminded individuals on mediation packages, motions for summary judgments, meet with clients and so much more. At the start of the summer, I was not sure which path in law I wanted to take, but I am starting to find a true passion for the personal injury field.
Lucy Peters: “I am interning with Leav & Steinberg this summer in order to gain exposure to law as a career! I am not yet sure of my desired career path, but I have always had an interest in the fields of health and ethics. Leav & Steinberg’s advocacy for the injured and those medically harmed combines my passion for both these topics, making this internship the perfect fit for me!
Currently, I am a rising junior at Duke University studying Neuroscience and Sociology, and I hope to bring my knowledge in these fields to my work at Leav & Steinberg. I am appreciative of this opportunity and am excited to learn as much as possible this summer!”
Gabrielle Levin: “My journey into the field of law is not something I would describe as conventional. I didn’t grow up always wanting to be a lawyer, I didn’t have any lawyers in my family that I looked up to, and I didn’t have a burning passion for debate or something of the sorts. I do, however, have a strong desire to be an advocate for people that are in desperate need for one. It wasn’t until COVID hit and I was sitting in lockdown at home that I realized law could be my calling.
Throughout my time here at Leav & Steinberg I have learned so much about what it means to be a lawyer and about how the New York Court systems work. This job has me feeling much more prepared than I would’ve been for my first year of law school at Brooklyn Law School which I will be starting this August. Even though I am in the beginning stages of my law career I feel excited about what’s to come.”
